Well, you have made it through the first two weeks almost unscathed! I assume everyone is getting comfortable with webCT and the flow of the class. Your blogs should also be up and running!
This week: I will introduce the newsletter and scanning. We will also review the journal article requirements and journal one.
Journal One: The new L&L is hot off the press! For journal 1, I would like everyone to read: "Social Networking for the K-12 Set", by Jim Klein. Not only is this an interesting article, but it is free for the general public to read (just in case some of you are unable to get the ISTE subscription squared away). Don't forget that Journal 1 goes in the Title, and the article title and author go in the first two lines of your post!
This week's Question: What is your current favorite musician or artist? I say "current favorite" to get those people who say "I don't have a favorite" to respond. . .

I would say my current favorite artist would be Nickleback. My brother has a lot of their music and I have just recently been listening to them and really enjoy their music.
My favorite artist is definitely Ryan Adams. I just saw him in concert and he was amazing!!!
My current favorite music artist happens to be, what my children listen to, Jana Alayra. She writes Christian music for children. As for me I listen to all kinds of talk radio, sports and non-sport stations.
My favorite musical artist is Third Day. They are an amazing Christian rock band from Austin, TX.
Paul, I have been to quite a few Jana Alayra concerts with my girls. Her mosh pit is filled with shorties, but they all rock!!
Right now I'm really into Cat Power! She has such an amazing voice! But if I had to pick a favorite overall... it would be Modest Mouse! The lead vocalist is great! His other group, Ugly Casanova, is also a good listen :)
I haven't been listening to that much music lately so if anyone has any good suggestions let's hear them.
When I do listen to music lately, it's mostly either simon and garfunkel or nickel creek
My most favorite artist is Allison Krauss. She just has the most angelic voice! Also she is kinda sassy. Just recently I got a new ipod and have been demanding that all my friends let me steal their music, so I have been learning about a lot of new artists and that some of my friends have really bad taste!!
My current favorite musical group is Panic at the Disco. They have a new album coming out this May. I can't wait to hear the new CD. However, I am also partial to older groups like The Doors and Chicago. I am constantly listening to 70s groups thanks to my dad who introduced me to them at a very young age. Oh, I also enjoy listening to Fleetwood Mac and Enya. I guess I would have to say that I have a wide variety of favorite groups now that I think about.
I would have to say that my current favorite group is Modest Mouse. That is who seems to be in my CD player the most.
Don't really have a favorite. But, right now, Bob Marley is in my cd player at the moment.
My favorite musician right now is Garth Brooks. I just saw him live for the first time at Staples Center last month. He was doing concerts there for the California Fire Relief. He was awesome live and after seeing him in person I love his music now more than ever.
My favorite musician is a guy from Belize named Andy Palacio who plays guitar and sings in his native Garifuna (African roots). His goal was to preserve his fading language through music. (Unfortunately he passed away a couple of weeks ago). His music is very rhythmic - if you like african rhythm - drums and guitar - check out his most recent CD "Watina."
I really enjoy listening to Michael Buble. My sister introduced me to him after seeing him 2 years ago in Cleveland. She and her friends were leaving his concert and had his music blaring loud with the windows down and he had gotten out of his bus and came up to their window and sang to them. I like how approachable he is and he just looks like he is having a blast singing these great old songs. I also like that this "older" music is being appreciated by a younger generation.
Right now I really like Donovan Frankenreiter. We saw him this past summer in Costa Mesa and it was a great venue. Funny thing, my husband grew up surfing with the guy.
I would say my favorite artist as of last week is Colby Callet (sp?) She sounds like the female version of Jack Johnson. Mellow and nice. I also like Chris Tomlin--Christian artist, and Faith Hill--Country artist.
I switch between country and classic rock-depending on my mood. I'm a huge fan of Brooks & Dunn and have seen them in concert many times-also love Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard. My wish before I die is to see"The Boss" Bruce Springsteen in concert.
For the last several years, my favorite artist has been Sarah McLachlan. However, it has been several years since she has released a new album. She puts on an amazing concert!
Right now, my favorite artist is Jack Johnson. I absolutely love his voice. I also like the fact that he is very eco-friendly and gives back to his community through the Kokua Hawaii Foundation. This year he is one of the headliners at Coachella - very cool.
My all time favorite artist is Mariah Carey. I have been listening to her music since the
7th grade. She has a awsome voice.
I like to listen to old jazz and blues. Currently, I've been listening to a lot of Nina Simone. I listen to this one song called "Strange Fruit" over and over. I listen to it mostly in the car when I'm by myself
Favorite band for me is Modest Mouse. Pretty cool to see that both Erin and Loubern also love them. I am definitely open to anything though.
I really dont have a favorite artist... really I dont, I love all different kinds of music! If you make me choose one, I would have to say Baby Mozart because it gets my lack of sleep daugter to sleep at night :) LOL
favorite right now is...The Flaming Lips. Crazy positive lyrics and a fun vibe. They can also lull you away and the POP! Something awe inspiring hits yeah, and your like, “Yeah! That is so part of the paradigm I understand!”. –Maria Bamford…anyone?
I am always switching between older and newer artists. My current newer artist favorite is corinne Bailey Rae. She was just nominated for a grammy award.
I like Jimmy Buffett. i dont know if he is current or not. I dont think jimmy buffett would ever call his music current at any time. He wrote all of his stuff in the future while on the moon. I did like velvet revolver and i am hearing things about Axl(GnR)'s Chinese DEmocracy... but the certainty of those bands making more music is always in doubt.
